I'm sure you've all heard the work-life balance sayings. You may have the work-life balance down, but if you take a look at the "life" portion of that equation, do you have life balance? Let me explain, so "work" = your career, aka your job, aka where your pay checks comes from and "life" = friends, family, fitness, passion projects, etc. Are you missing out on fun events because "life" gets in the way? Friends keeping you from getting your workouts in or vice versa? Your "life" may be out of balance! A great way to make sure you're keeping things balanced is to make a schedule. Since I've begun marathon training, I've run every single mile my program has required of me. If I hadn't planned ahead, that would not have happened. I've had bachelorette parties & other events that kept me away for the entire weekend and planning ahead has saved me! Running and these celebrations make me happy, so I've found the time to make both happen.
Negativity can also throw your life out of balance. Mean self thoughts can take joy out of activities that would normally make you happy. Do you enjoy sitting on the beach or swimming but HATE swimsuits? The swimsuit is basically taking two activities away from you that you enjoy. Eliminate that self doubt and self hate and get in that swimsuit and enjoy the heck out of the beach and swimming if that is what you enjoy! Don't let things hold you back. So, if you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take a step back and look at your life balance. Are you doing things that make you happy? Are you missing out on things that you should have prioritized better or because you were scared? Look inward, figure out what is keeping you from doing what you love and break through that barrier. Life should be amazing. Enjoy each day and find balance.
